Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship hosts 14th annual conference in June

Florida State University’s Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship (JMI) will host its 14th annual conference June 11-13 at the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The JMI Conference is tailored to small business owners, offering a valuable platform for learning, networking and idea sharing. It includes main sessions dedicated to enhancing each attendee’s entrepreneurial skills, as well as breakout workshops for smaller groups with specific interests.
Three successful entrepreneurs highlight the keynote speaker lineup in former NBA player Charlie Ward, Guy Harvey Foundation CEO Jessica Harvey and small business expert and author Ramon Ray.
Ward is a legendary sports figure at FSU, winning the Heisman Trophy as the Seminoles’ quarterback in their first national championship season in 1993. He became a first-round NBA draft pick, playing 11 seasons with the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. Ward was recently named the head coach of the Florida A&M men’s basketball program.
Harvey is the head of a foundation dedicated to conserving oceans through marine science research and education. She grew up traveling with her father, renowned artist and conservationist Guy Harvey, to several fishing and research expeditions around the world. She holds several fishing world records and uses her passion for oceans to better understand the wonders of the undersea world.
Ray is an in-demand thought leader on personal branding as a tool for small business success. Through his articles, podcasts and interviews, Ray is known for inspiring and educating business owners. He has started five businesses and sold three of them, and has authored five books, including “Celebrity CEO.”
The JMI Conference and Award Celebration will conclude the three-day event with the recognition of the JMI 30 Award winners. Launching for the first time this year as a dedication to JMI’s 30th anniversary, the milestone initiative spotlights the 30 fastest-growing businesses owned or led by JMI alumni. The award ceremony is a tribute to JMI’s most innovative and successful alumni business leaders and non-profit executives.
JMI, housed in the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, was founded in 1995 to cultivate, train and inspire entrepreneurial leaders through world-class executive education, applied training, public recognition and leading-edge research. The institute serves small business owners and nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Florida by offering several impactful programs.
